After you commit

Congratulations. You made it. Everyone deserves the chance to celebrate a little and relax a lot.

The project you've been working on for close to a year is over. Give each member of the family the space to process this however they need to. But, mostly, be done. No talking about the path not taken. Just chill out.

Most schools will reach out over the summer with the real logistics: the forms, the supply lists, the summer reading, a chance to meet other incoming students. Handle what's asked and skip the urge to do more. Your student spent a year being evaluated. What they need now is time to enjoy our wonderful city and feel the nervous excitement of what's next.
