Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
SF School Atlas (“we,” “us”) is an independent directory of San Francisco high schools. This policy explains what little information we collect and how we handle it. We've tried to keep both the policy and the data collection minimal.
Information we collect
Usage analytics. We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly service, to understand aggregate traffic: which pages are viewed, approximate region, and device type. It is cookieless, does not build a profile of you, and does not let us identify individual visitors.
Information you submit. If you use our feedback or contact form (hosted by Tally), we receive what you choose to enter: for example, a correction or question, and an email address only if you provide one to get a reply.
Your account, if you create one. Signing in takes only an email address, which we use to send your sign-in link and our monthly letter (you can opt out on your account page). What you save with our planning tools (your shortlist, Compass, Field Notes, and Bearings check-ins) is stored with your account so your family can pick it up on any device. We use it to show you your own work, nothing else.
Your home address, if you set one. To show drive times to schools, we send the address you enter to Mapbox, which converts it to map coordinates and estimates the commute. That address is the only piece of your account that goes to Mapbox, and we never share it elsewhere.
How we use information
To operate and improve the site, to correct and verify school data, and to respond to you when you reach out.
Cookies
We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics is cookieless.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your information. We rely on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and analytics), Tally (forms), Supabase (accounts and saved tool data), Resend (sign-in emails), and Mapbox (turning a home address into commute times). Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Your choices
You can contact us through our form to ask what information we hold about you or to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law (CCPA/CPRA).
Children
The site is intended for parents, guardians, and others navigating high school admissions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Links to other sites
We link to school, district, and government websites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the date above reflects the latest version.
